This isn’t Alexeï Aïgui’s first visit to Marseille. After taking part in the European Market for Film Music Composition, the composer returns to MCM to accompany Ernest Cole: Lost and Found, the latest documentary by Raoul Peck, with whom he regularly collaborates (I Am Not Your Negro). Presented at Cannes, the film traces the story of Ernest Cole, the first South African photographer to document the devastation of apartheid with House of Bondage (1967). Forced into exile after its publication, he gradually faded into obscurity, but Raoul Peck revives his legacy by recounting his journey. A vital documentary that brings to light the work of a visionary artist.
