For its 25th edition, the Festival international Music & Cinema Marseille (MCM) is delighted to be working with Marseille-based illustrator Martin Carrese, who describes his artistic approach as a cinematic invitation:
"The frame, scenery and composition draw the eye in to better embark the audience into the Festival experience. Each year, the film will reveal itself a little more through a new image."
With this enigmatic first scene, the MCM and the illustrator hope to awaken the spectators' creativity and curiosity by inviting them to imagine the counter-frame of what's being played out. Festival-goers will be able to write, draw and share the rest of their scenario during educational workshops and participatory spaces offered from April 1 to 6, 2024 during the Festival at the Artplexe cinema, Canebière.
This new collaboration also echoes the history of Music & Cinema. It was with his father, Philippe Carrese, writer, screenwriter, director, composer and a great friend of the Festival, that Martin Carrese discovered the MCM convivial movie theatre. What a joyous opportunity for the entire Festival team to celebrate 25 years dedicated to music and cinema!
