MEETING:
- Saturday 1st April - Artplexe 7
“What I like about being a film composer is that it allows me to reinvent myself constantly. I can be a different artist every month”.
Daniel Pemberton is regularly named as one of the most gifted composers of his generation. Since bursting onto the scene with his musical creation for the Desperate Romantics series, for which he won an Ivor Novello Award in 2009, Daniel Pemberton continues to amaze us with his hybrid scores combining choirs, orchestras and electronic music.
After signing the original music of multiple series and video games, the artist plunges into the cinematographic universe with his composition for The Awakening, horror film directed by Nick Murphy. He then composed those of The Counselor by Ridley Scott, The Man from U.N.C.L.E by Guy Ritchie, as well as Steve Jobs, the film by Danny Boyle for which he was nominated for a first Golden Globe. In 2016, he wrote the music for Mal de pierres, film directed by Nicole Garcia, and for Gold, by Stephen Gaghan. In 2018, he added his name to the list of composers affiliated with Spider-Man for the film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
For his Carte Blanche, the talented composer presents The Trial of the Chicago 7 by Aaron Sorkin.
Based on a true story, it recounts the demonstration held on the sidelines of the 1968 Democratic convention that turned into a violent confrontation, and the trial of its organizers, accused of conspiracy and incitement to uprising. A beautiful artpiece work that illustrates our current concerns with talent and legitimacy.
