After working as a graphic designer, Emma Luchini began directing in 2007 with her first short film, Sur ses deux oreilles. Two years later, she directed Vincent Elbaz, Vanessa David and Louise Bourgoin in Sweet Valentine, a road movie set against a backdrop of romance. She played herself in Frédéric Beigbeder's feature L'amour dure trois ans, then collaborated with Nicolas Rey on a new short film: La femme de Rio, which won the César for Best Short Film in 2015. The same year, Emma Luchini directed her father Fabrice Luchini, as well as Manu Payet and Veerle Baetens in a second feature film: Un début prometteur, based on the novel by Nicolas Rey, who himself wrote the adaptation. Since then, Emma has worked regularly in advertising. She is currently writing her next feature film Trois frères.
