Atli Örvarsson
Guest of Honor
Atli Örvarsson, an Icelandic composer, asserts that the tectonic fault separating the plates of Europe and North America symbolizes his life. At a young age, he made a name for himself on the Icelandic music scene with the band "Salin Hans Jons Mins."
After studying at Berklee College of Music and the North Carolina School of the Arts, he earned the Pete Carpenter Fellowship and collaborated in Los Angeles with Mike Post on NYPD Blue and Law and Order. Recruited by Hans Zimmer at Remote Control Productions, he contributed to major Hollywood productions such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Iron Man, Man of Steel, and NBC series like Chicago Fire.
In 2014, Atli joined JPAgency to collaborate with European productions. His score for Hrútar (Rams), which won the Un Certain Regard prize at Cannes, marked a turning point. Returning to Iceland, he composed for The Lava Field, Ploey, and other projects. His works, including The Edge of Seventeen and The Hitman's Bodyguard, combine artistic ambition with international success.
In 2023, he moved to London, composing the scores for Runes, Sous Emprise (Netflix), and Silo (Apple TV+), which earned him a BAFTA in 2024. Today, Atli continues to pursue a borderless artistic journey, guided by works that are deeply meaningful.
